Ringing at Saffron Walden

Ringing Times

We practice on a Tuesday evening between 7.30pm and 9pm. Ringing for Sunday morning service is between 9.45am and 10.30am. We welcome visiting ringers of all abilities to both practice and service ringing. But we would appreciate a note to the ringing master to let us know that you are coming. Any changes to the schedule will be detailed in the calendar. After ringing on practice nights we generally visit one of our local pubs and you would be very welcome to join us there too.

Visiting bands and peal ringing

The bells are available to book for quarter peals, peals and general practices. Due to the built-up nature of the town and location of the church, the amount of ringing that can be done is a little restricted. Please request the bells through the tower secretary and we will do our best to accommodate you.

Learning to ring

We have an active program of teaching new recruits and are always looking for more. A number of our band our ART qualified and dedicated practices are set up for teaching. Please get in touch to find out more, or join us at one of our practices to find out if it is right for you.

How to find us

St Mary’s is located to the northwest of the town centre. The three main car parks in Saffron Walden are indicated on the map below. A limited amount of two-hour free parking can sometimes be found in Castle St and Ashdon Rd. On Sundays, cars can be parked in Castle Street – at all other times parking is only for residents.
